Rafaga is a skilled swordmaster and Captain of Emerode's guard. He's impressively tall, strong built and blue-eyed. His blonde shoulder-length hair are tied in a low tail and he wears a single round earring on his right lobe. Rafaga's clothes are mainly hidden beneath the huge blue armor he uses to protect himself, along with a long dark-blue mantle hanging from his shoulders plates. Few pale blue jewels adorns his severe and practical combat suit. He always carries his faithful sword with him. Rafaga, unlike Lantis, has no magic powers but he can rely on his tremendous strength and sword ability in every battle.

Rafaga was promoted to Commander-in-chief of the Princess' guard after Lantis suddenly disappeared, and he kept his status until Emerode got kidnapped. Being her loyal guard he challenged the Evil priest in order not to let her be confined, but he failed, inexorably overwhelmed by Zagato's magic power. Anyway this latter was impressed and decided to keep him within his ranks, by casting a mind controlling spell on the unfortunate soldier, to exploit his talents for his good. In fact when the Knights first meet him his expression was dull and he had a pair of blue stripes on his cheeks: the markings of Zagato's power. He had Rafaga fight them against his will. As his most powerful henchman, he engaged the girls in battle quite late, but they really struggled a lot facing him even if he doesn't possess any magical ability. Only Hikaru was able to be a match for him; to protect her friends she managed to find the strength to knock him down just relying on her sword and determination. During the battle Rafaga happened to grasp her sword, which suddenly turned into fire burning him and freeing him from the spell. In the anime, once he was again in charge of himself, he thanked the girls and left to seek a private, hopeless crusade against their common enemy. At the Fire temple he prevented Hikaru from falling under Zagato's sudden attack, then he challenged him a second time, but after another bitter defeat he realized the Knights were the only hope of the Princess and stepped back from the main scene.

Rafaga is a cool, mostly calm and silent swordsman. Little is known on his whereabouts, but his strength and bravery are unquestionable. He's fiercely loyal to Emerode and takes his task of bodyguard very seriously, that is way it's hard for him to give up on her and to stay aside, hoping for the Knights to unleash her. Anyway at first he doesn't forgive himself his failure and he spends much time wallowing in the depths of self-pity: his only wish is to protect the Princess, thus he sets out for Zagato on his own, cursing his impotence. In a way, he is a lot like Alcyone, but while this latter screws her life for love, betraying her princess, he acts for loyalty and lives up to his duty. That is why he'd have never followed, willingly, Zagato's orders. Anyway, both their lives are voted to someone else...fortunately, the bold swordsman will be able to break his self imposed bounds keeping the Knights' teachings in mind and finding love. Alcyone instead will never try to change her fate.
Rafaga appears again in the following  season next to Caldina and Ascot. Unfortunately his role is really small, he just acts vaguely protective towards the Knights. At the beginning he's clearly very wary of Lantis, because of his connection with Autozam and maybe because of a roughly defined feeling of professional jealousy towards the Kailu of Cephiro. The two men are also very alike in personality, and they'll never really get along. Rafaga is a an item with Caldina and their relation deepens as time passes by.

Rafaga is the chief Dal, Captain of Emerode's Inner Guard. He is utterly devoted to protecting her, so Zagato had to brainwash him in order to get him to fight the Magic Knights. A master swords-man, he can cut through the hardest stone. Perhaps his only weakness is his overconfidence.
