Sanyun is young member of Pharen crew, who helps and supports princess Aska in her conquering journey towards Cephiro. He's dressed according to his birth planet fashion and his whereabouts are mostly unknown due to his little role in both Rayearth anime and manga. His age is undetectable, but he's probably as old as Aska, even if he's surely more mature and less self centered than her. He usually looks kinda clueless and stupid but during battle times he's competent in his advice to the princess, determined and protective over her. He did study very hard in order to be useful to her, and he has learned a lot about Pharen neighborhood's fighting techniques and resources. His calm attitude towards things and his patience are probably determinant factors in his being still alive this close to Princess Aska. Maybe he has been chosen as her cabinet member because of this (and because of his loyalty, of course). Sanyun gets along very well with Chanan, in spite of the huge age difference, and the old advisor seems to be very fond of him and of the diligence he puts in serving their princess. He's also very polite and innocent looking, even considering his limited number of facial expressions.

He never gets any chance to fight, but it's said he's good at martial arts and archery, his beloved princess favorite physical discipline. His weak appearance, after all, could hide an excellent fighter.

His barely concealed love for Princess Aska is pure and platonic, in a form which is close to complete devotion. However, she doesn't seem to notice, and she actually hammers and teases him very much by making him pander to her whims....after all, Aska's favorite battle puppet crated with her illusionary spells is a beautiful "Giant Sanyun", who looks like the little boy drawn by a 5 year old kid.

Lady Aska's loyal servant, Sanyun, grew up by her side. He has a chibi-face, but he's actually very smart and studious. His wish is that when Aska becomes Empress, he can be by her side and provide her with counsel. He can't use the illusionary arts of the royal family, but he's well trained in martial arts and archery. He might be holding a crush for Aska, but due to class differences, he knows nothing could ever come of it.
